Happy place.
Most people wouldn’t even consider this certain Big Box store as a go-to place to buy vinyl records. Most people who invest in and collect vinyl already have places they like to go. They make a day of it, it’s their “happy place”.
Ask:
Team up with a 3D designer to redesign the vinyl records section of this store. Include an area for CD’s (yes people still buy those), record players and and a “tester” area where a specific brand/model can be featured and customers can try out.
Challenge:
Think of a structure that’s easy for employees to restock and keep fairly neat
Keep it simple enough for people to find what they’re looking for, or even just browse.
Create something inviting. A safe space for beginners or seasoned collectors to browse and feel at home.
INSPIRATION: Wooden record stands for that nostalgic warm feel.
Solution:
Incorporate the warmth and nostalgia from the little corner record stores into the display. Together with a 3D designer, we came up with the idea to add wood to the base and in the area with the featured record player. I chose “in-situation” lifestyle imagery behind the tester record player to give the illusion of it being in someone’s home. The overall graphics still use the brand font and colors but just with added touches.
